The stories behind the products

Yoga Mat Spray

This has been on my mind for quite a while and now that I incorporate yoga ,stretching and deep breathing exercises into my day, it's more important to keep my mat and my experience fresh! Use this natural formula to keep odors away from your practice and envelop yourself in the relaxing, invigorating or grounding scents of nature.

Made with our own witch hazel hydrosol and essential oils

Deet Free Insect Repellent

The worst feeling is dousing your own kids in dangerous pesticide before letting them gleefully play outdoors. It leaves a feeling of dread in a mommy heart. I knew there had to be a way to keep the critters away without endangering my kid's health, so I researched every natural repellent I could find. The legend of the 4 thieves during the Bubonic Plague caught my attention and it quickly became the basis for this effective repellent.

Made with herbal vinegar, water, and essential oils

No Coating Dryer Balls

Typical Dryer sheets are loaded with artificial fragrances & meant to leave a coating on your clothing to stop them from sticking to each other. A great result at terrible cost to the most absorbent organ in your body- your skin. I made some shepherd friends, got some wool, and taught myself how to clean, card, wrap and felt it into balls that reduce dry time, static and wrinkles with the light and natural scent from lavender essential oil.

Made from cruelty free and natural local wool with lavender essential oil

Bleach Free Surface Cleaner

Cleaning day at my house always made me grimace, and not for the usual reasons. Bleach-based cleaners and harsh cleaning chemicals would irritate my lungs so much that I could not clean a bathroom without frequent breaks for fresh air, and my lungs would be irritated long after. I sought out simple replacements like baking soda, vinegar, and salt to start, and then this simple formulation became my favorite.

Made from water, hydrogen peroxide and essential oils

Portable Essentail Oils

I love essential oils for their power to change a mood or affect health in general. However, I never know what I'll need or want to have close by when I am out and about. It's not good practice to leave essential oils in a hot car or glass bottles in a purse or gym bag, so these were developed as a way to take them with me. These 3 hit most of my needs in a day and they're easy to use and leave in the car, in the desk, or in my pocket.

Glass and Goggle Defogger

This product was a request from one of our corporate clients in the medical field. They needed something for their providers who have a daily fight with foggy protective wear during critical times. As one who wears glasses, I could relate!  We worked to find a solution and this was the winning formula. For one of our hair technician customers, they use it to see clearly for hours in their work too.

Made from our own castile liquid soap, and witch hazel hydrosol

Quick Absorbing Face and Hand Lotion

Like the detangler, I wanted something that was easy to use, non-greasy, and quick absorbing. I don't spend alot of time on skin care and prefer a simple option when time is short, but my skin is thirsty. This recipe fit the bill and helps when my hands are dry at the office or I need a quick face treatment in the morning or evening.

Made from castor and jojoba oils, water, rosemary, horsetail herb and marshmallow root with plant based thickeners.

Non Gag Air Freshener

When I learned that typical air/ fabric fresheners worked by using heavy duty chemicals to fool your senses, and when I learned the power of aromatherapy with essential oils, it was clear to me that what goes into your body via your mouth, skin or lungs does something, either good or bad. It was easy to move to a natural alternative that had all the good instead of irritating aerosols.

Made from water, witch hazel and essential oils

Additive Free Soap

One of my very first projects was to learn how to make my own soap, scary lye and all. It wasn't as scary as I thought, even though I do take all the precautions, but the result was such a sense of satisfaction because there is no detergents, artificial fragrances or colors in mine. Knowing our bodies wouldn't have to deal with yet more chemical load from this one change was a peace-of-mind giver. And transforming suds from fat and lye is just plain magic!

Made from lye, water, oils of coconut, olive, lavender, lemon and dandelions

Non Drying Lip Balm

One of the things I noticed right away about the usual brand of lip balm is that it made my dry lips even dryer, more cracked, and less healed unless I used it every day. Though it kept that brand in business all this time, that was not the end result I was looking for. So, I made my own and now, if weather or a bout of sickness causes my skin to react, I can apply and feel like there's an improvement.

Made with almond and coconut oils, cocoa butter, beeswax and essential oils

Simple Hair Detangler

Being a mom of 2 girls with long hair, I can relate to the issues around keeping wild, natural curls at bay. Personally, my hair gets weighed down with in-shower conditioner, so leave in's were always a favorite of mine. Reading the ingredient list didn't

make me feel great about what I was putting on my hair though, so this simple formula was the answer for a light & moisturizing option.

Made from castor and jojoba oils, water, rosemary, horsetail herb and marshmallow root with plant based thickeners.

No Sulfate Shampoo Bar

If any personal care item concerned me most, it was the shampoo ingredient list. Sulfates are a black hat in a green world, and an easy to keep bar without another plastic bottle was a great alternative. This one makes use of castor and jojoba oil in the formulation, so it cleans and conditions without the extra step.

Made from lye, water, and olive, coconut, castor, jojoba. lemon and lavender oils

Fluoride Free Tooth Cleaner

One of the first chemicals to inundate the natural living space was fluoride. Not natural fluoride, but the man-made stuff as a byproduct of big industry. When I heard that it was big money pushed for other uses of the stuff, and that's how it ended up in our toothpaste and water supply, and I learned about the effects of oversaturation, I moved to provide my family with a natural option that does the work without the worry.

Made from baking soda, peppermint essential oil and xylitol (natural birch sweetener that's awesome for enamel)

Aluminum Free Deodorant

I read alot about the harmful effects of aluminum on the body and brain and stopping sweat is exactly what you don't want to to do stay healthy. Sweat is the body getting rid of toxins. Antiperspirant stops this natural process and ADDS another toxin. It appears bodies adjust and sweat less when they don't have to fight as hard to release toxins through the skin.

Made from arrowroot powder, beeswax, coconut and tea tree oil

Additive Free Detergent

When my boys were young, their skin was really sensitive. We tracked it down to slightly diet based and mostly our choice of 'but everyone uses it" laundry detergent. I made the typical DIY goop recipe with shredded soap. It worked- their skin cleared, but it was messy to use and hard to store. I went back to the store version after our 5-gallon bucket was empty and the sensitivity came right back. Since then, I restructured the recipe and this has been our tried and true formula for at least 15 years now.

Made with baking soda, washing soda and borax
